Event Overview: With the weather heating up it is time to look at how you cope in the HEAT. Join this session to find out how your class can be involved in an Australian National University study on working in the heat.
Australian National University is conducting a research project investigating health and productivity responses to working in the heat across the nation. The project arose from the national lack of understanding of how Australia is likely to cope with increasingly hot summers.
Despite the fact that Australia gets hot in summer, and on average a 1000 people die every year from heat exposure. The more people enrolling in the study the better the data capture and more reliable the findings.

Further Information: The project is simple. We ask heat exposed people to fill in a daily heat diary ��� on hot says and also for some cool days ��� and we then correlate any reported symptoms to the temperature on that day. The diary is one page per day, largely ���tick the box�� & very quick to complete. We analyse the data of each person against them self (ie. Symptoms on hot days v cool days) - not against other people. This means the only variable of difference is the weather, on how they feel (any heat symptoms) and on their productivity (slowing down ��� rest breaks required). Hydration is important, so we also ask them to record in their diaries, the volume they drink
