Modules:

Event Overview: In this event, students will join, through a virtual link, the studio session with leading Australian contemporary Photomedia artist Anne Zahalka, and collaborate with her to create a photographic work using ancestral portraits and pictures. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from the artist throughout the live shoot. Schools that aren’t able to access VC equipment can view the live broadcast through a private YouTube live link.
Anne Zahalka, born in Sydney 1957 is one of Australia’s most highly-regarded photographic artists. She has exhibited extensively in Australia and overseas for more than twenty years. Her artwork revolves around Australian culture, focusing on themes such as gender roles, leisure activities and the conventions of art. She subsequently developed an interest in Australia's migrants and diverse cultures. Highly regarded, the Centre for Contemporary Photography in Melbourne, mounted a major retrospective of her work, Hall of Mirrors: Anne Zahalka Portraits, which toured throughout Australia and Internationally. Zahalka has been the recipient of numerous awards and commissions, including the Leopold Godowsky Photography Award in Boston and the Sydney Airport Commission, Welcome to Sydney. Her works are held in most major public collections in Australia as well as numerous private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas.
